Biography:

Dr Foran completed combined Arts and Medicine degrees at the University of Sydney. Her subsequent work in the field of vaccines in Thailand sparked her interest in Public Health. She completed a Master of Public Health degree at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium. Upon her return to Australia she completed a Doctor of Philosophy degree at the University of Sydney following a period of full-time research. She completed ophthalmic training at Sydney Eye Hospital. She underwent two further fellowships in the United Kingdom: General Ophthalmology, Royal United Hospital, Bath and Medical Retina, Moorfields Eye Hospital, London.

Dr Foran is a Medical Retina sub-specialist with a public appointment at Westmead Hospital. She is a Senior Lecturer in Ophthalmology at the University of Sydney. She is affiliated with the Centre for Vision Research, University of Sydney. She has presented at national and international meetings. She has published in international peer-review journals. She co-authored the most recent NHMRC Guidelines for the Management of Diabetic Retinopathy. She is a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists.
